Ald. Diane Colley-Urquhart, who heads the city's Stop Marijuana Grow Ops steering committee, described last week's busts as a "huge victory" in the fight against drugs.
"It comes down to organized crime and making profits. They will sacrifice their families to make a profit," said the Ward 13 alderman. "I hope that if these parents are found guilty, that they never get their kids back."
I hate to break it to you Ms. Colley-Urquhart, but those children don't give a crap that they were exposed to all the "dangers" of grow-ops. They love their parents, flaws and all. We are talking about exposing children to plants and electrical cords. If grow-ops are so bloody dangerous then why is it that we continually hear about the dangers of grow-ops in the media yet we never hear of any grow-op related casualties? The War on Some Drugs, on the other hand, kills many people. This is not in dispute.
I would call children being forcibly removed from their loving parents for growing the wrong plants a terrible tragedy. This is further evidence that drugs need to be legalized, so that children aren't needlessly taken from their parents and so that children aren't exposed to any more "dangers".
